Network Marketing – The 3 top stupid mistakes people make in choosing a network marketing program and what to do instead…
1- Choosing a program because you think it will make you money fast. Most people believe that because someone told them they can make outrageous money they think they can do it now. Consider the time and effort it is going to build a distribution network. Just like a traditional sales business, a network marketing business takes time to connect people to the products and the company.
What to do instead is look at the long term and visualize yourself working the program for 3-5 years before it gets really profitable. That way you will not be frustrated at the lean months. Budget some money to market your business until it produces enough cash flow. Realize that to earn outrageous income you must position your marketing costs to get the best return on your investment of time and money.
2. Choosing a program without understanding the compensation plan. Know this. Compensation plans are devised to drive sales behavior. It’s true in traditional businesses and its true in the direct sales/network marketing model as well. Would you work at a traditional job without knowing how much money you would earn? What do you have to do to maximize the comp plan?
What to do instead it to make a list of the exact actions to accomplish. Then write a daily action plan with the estimated amount of time to preform each task. You must get a grip on the things you must do to earn the income you want. And you must take the proper actions to obtain it. Study the details of the compensation plan before you launch your business.
3. Choosing a program because you need to make money today without any leads. We all want to get cash as soon as we buy the distributorship. Thats a natural desire and good one. However any sales endeavor has to go through a process of contact, invite, recontact, and follow-up. Some programs need awhile to get another interested… Timing is the most important thing. People you are recruiting may take a longer time to commit. Learn to be patient and pace your activity for the long haul.
What to do instead is to make a list to contact right away and consider the niche markets you want to work. How and where you will get the leads to grow your business right now. You might consider asking your warm market for referrals or developing a retail plan to help cash flow your business until the recruiting part kicks in.
